Recently, I finally broke down and bought a Dyson vacuum. The cat hair has creeped me out so much that I couldn't help it. I have used the Dyson twice so far in the house and have already seen an improvement in the cat hair/fur volume. There is a mini turbine tool that seems to remove the cat fur from the furniture much easier than other tools I have used. Yeah!
The one drawback is it is bagless so you can see how much stuff was on your floors and furniture. EEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
