Hard Times

Right now it seems that several people that I care about are struggling through some hard times. The time for prayer each evening and at strange times during the day just seems to be getting longer. It is hard to not be able to solve the problems as many problems we are not able to solve for others.

My sister once said that we all have our own trials, issues, mountains to overcome. That life isn't fair and all we can do is to determine how we as individuals will face the adversity in our lives.

It was several years ago when she said this, granted this is extremely paraphrased and it was in a specific context to inspire bravery prior to an operation but I find myself thinking about this concept now and then.

I used to try to solve all the problems on my radar which often lead to failure. Now I understand better which problems I can fix and which I can't. My sister's words help me with that. No matter how much I care for someone and want to take their pain away, sometimes you simply can't. All you can do allow them to face their adversity and help give them the strength and support they may need to do that. Hopefully they will ask for the help they need and you are able to provide it.
